Granite Peak Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"A cross-country day hike to a rugged granite peak, the highest in the Santa Rosa Range. Granite Peak is visible to the west from the trailhead. Follow a seldom-used dirt road toward
the summit, climbing gradually, and passing through several meadows and stands of aspen.

Granite Peak is visible to the west from the trailhead. Follow a seldom-used dirt road toward the summit, climbing gradually, and passing through several meadows and stands of aspen. The road ends in a broad sage saddle at a fence line. Follow the fence left (west) over a rocky section, then continue up a steep slope with excellent views of Lye Creek Basin to the north. As the slope moderates, the summit again becomes visible. Contour around the head of a steep gully to reach the broad sage saddle below the summit. Now scramble up and left to the summit."
