Lower Tahoe Meadows Nature Trail Loops Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Recently, the Forest Service wisely added this loop to the area’s trail network, as scores of people would traipse across the fragile meadows during the summer to enjoy the colorful wildflowers, causing a significant amount of environmental damage to this sensitive meadowland. By building a lengthy stretch of boardwalk, the Forest Service ensured that visitors can still enjoy the beautiful flowers along Ophir Creek without harming the ecosystem.
The first half of the 3.3-mile loop closely follows Ophir Creek through the meadows, while the second half moves into the forest and follows the Ophir Creek Trail and a short section of the Tahoe Rim Trail back to the trailhead. In addition to the trip described below, 1-mile and 2-mile loops provide options for walkers desiring shorter trips."
