Red Rocks: Top of the Rainbow Mountain Escarpment Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"This hike makes the soaring views from the top of the Red Rock cliffs accessible to those who don’t have a high-clearance/4WD vehicle, and it’s worth it, with peeks down through the steep canyons of the Red Rock escarpment and out east to Las Vegas. There are also opportunities for side hikes out to the tops of the promontories along the way.
However, this is an unofficial, cross-country route with neither trails nor signs. All hikers attempting this should be comfortable with desert route-finding. Make sure to bring extra layers against the wind, which can whip enthusiastically over this ridgeline. This hike explores the summit of the 25,000-acre Rainbow Mountain Wilderness Area, designated by Congress in 2002 to protect its natural beauty for generations to come. Vehicle: Passenger car."
