Ruby Crest National Recreation Trail

Ruby Crest National Recreation Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"A 4-day backpack trip in the Ruby Mountains along the crest of Nevada’s most alpine range featuring classic alpine scenery, glacial valleys, cirques, and mountain lakes and streams. Lamoille Canyon displays the classic U-shaped profile of a glacier-carved alpine valley.

Forest Service interpretive displays along the road point out the distinctive features of the canyon. Numerous avalanche paths descend the steep walls; some years the road is blocked by a tangled mixture of trees and rock-hard snow brought down by the avalanches. The Ruby Mountains are the most alpine of Nevada ranges, with rugged granite peaks and crystal lakes."
