"Do you have a mutt that loves sleeping in a tent? Sawmill Canyon is a remote hike with a great camping area that includes a water source. Regardless of whether you do this trail as a day hike or an overnight trip, you and your dog will find it to be an instant favorite! The trail follows an old roadbed which has been blocked for decades, so almost any dog that can handle the distance would make a great companion on this adventure. The canyon boasts all the elements of a rewarding trip: diverse vegetation so the sniffer never gets bored, shade for resting, a water source for drinking, and a place to put up a tent and absorb the solitude. Please note that the trail itself is not particularly challenging, but its length and a steady grade make it a moderately difficult hike, especially if you are carrying a pack. Under foot and paw: Dirt road and gravel washes." Read more
