Lower and Upper Lake View Loop Professional Review and Guide
"As mentioned elsewhere in this guide, riding a trail in the opposite direction of the “normal” route can often expose you to an entirely different ride. The Lower Lake View Trail is probably one of the best examples of this. The trail was designed to be ridden clockwise, making it an easy, mostly downhill ride, followed by a gradual easy climb across the valley and back up to the trailhead.
However, if you ride the trail counterclockwise, the trail turns from an easy trail to a moderate trail, mainly because what was once a downhill trail off the back of a rather high hill, is now a long steep climb up that same hill, switching the easy status to moderate."
