Dead Lake

Dead Lake Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"A cross-country and on-trail day hike in Great Basin National Park featuring an alpine creek and meadows in a seldom-visited area. Walk up the old road you were just driving. You soon pass the limit of vehicle use, and the road starts to climb steadily. Piñon-juniper and ponderosa pine give way to fir and aspen. There are occasional great views to the east. The old jeep trail swings right; watch for a foot trail that branches right. A short, steep climb on this trail leads to a flat bench where the central fork of Snake Creek flows through small alpine meadows. Dead Lake is about 300 yards farther northeast."
