Bald Mountain

Bald Mountain Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"A trail and cross-country hike to an rounded summit that offers fine views of Wheeler Peak and Jeff Davis Peak, in Great Basin National Park. Bald Mountain is much easier to climb than Wheeler Peak, and may appeal to those with limited time. Start from the trailhead parking at Wheeler Peak Campground by walking across the road to the Alpine Lakes trailhead. The trail crosses Lehman Creek on a footbridge, then climbs gradually through the dense forest. Turn right at the junction with the Bristlecone-Glacier Trail. The trail crosses the creek again, then enters a series of alpine meadows. At the signed junction with the Summit Trail, turn left. After a short distance, turn right onto the Wheeler Peak Trail. Stay on this trail until it reaches Wheeler Saddle, almost directly above Stella Lake. Now turn right (north), and walk cross-country up the easy ridge."
