Monitor Valley Potts Hot Springs

Monitor Valley (Potts) Hot Springs Professional Review and Guide

"Several hot springs in an isolated valley in central Nevada. The hot spring with the largest discharge is piped into a circular watering trough, providing a nice bath. The view from the spring is fantastic. Like many other hot springs in northern and central Nevada, the Monitor Valley Hot Springs flow into a broad valley used for grazing. Like the other springs, these are also isolated. But unlike some of the others, they are not well known. You should have no problem with privacy here.

The largest flowing spring is diverted into a circular watering trough where the water cools from 130 degrees F. at the source to about 105 degrees F. in the trough. The water in the trough is relatively uniform in temperature and stays fairly clean due to the constant inflow and outflow of water. The trough is about 6 feet across and 3 feet deep. Cattle do utilize this area, but the trough is generally clean and provides a great bath in a great location."

This spring is on private land and is closed to the public. Don't go there. You will be told to leave.

Doesn't get much better than this. A cattle Trough with perfect temperature water, and long range views North and South. You can see the Travertine Hill of Diana's Punch Bowl from here. The place is a bit tricky to get to. You do enter into the Pott's Ranch. At an abandoned Farm House you go straight and around a Hill to the right. Spring is at the end. I believe camping is NOT allowed at this spring.
