North Slaughter Canyon

North Slaughter Canyon Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"A day hike into one of the deep, rugged desert canyons of the Carlsbad Caverns Wilderness.

Although this trail isn’t very long and doesn’t gain much altitude, it’s rated as moderate because much of it follows wash bottoms covered with cobbles and it is only very lightly used. You are unlikely to see anyone else on your hike. At times close attention will be required to not lose the trail. From the parking lot, follow the signs marked “Middle Slaughter Canyon” up the bottom of the canyon. Do not take the Slaughter Canyon Cave trail.

Dogs are not allowed"
