"The Alcove House Trail in Bandelier National Monument is a 3-mile out-and-back hike that can be combined with the Main Loop Paved Trail if so desired. The trail takes hikers through Frijoles Canyon to a dwelling that includes a reconstructed kiva that just so happens to require a 140-foot climb up four ladders. Once known as the Ceremonial Cave, the Alcove House was believed to have housed around twenty-five people." Read more

Still very cool, and great for Kids too. My 4 year old had a great time of it. Especially the fact that you get to go in the caves an climb the ladders to do it. The whole path is paved, but portions of the trail were closed for revitalization. If you are afraid of hieghts, the Big Cave may not be for you, since it is a 120 Feet of ladders to climb, stick with the 8 - 10 foot ladders on the main train.
