"The Rio Grande was among the original eight rivers selected in 1968 by Congress as Wild and Scenic. The designated river area includes 56 miles of the Rio Grande, from the New Mexico state line to beyond the Orilla Verde Recreation Site."

Year-Round, But Snow Can Temporarily restrict access in winter.

 Pets: On 6-ft. leash; this is black bear country and also home to mountain lions, bobcats, and coyotes, so monitor pets closely.  Fires: In fire rings only; charcoal grills permitted; check with campground host, BLM office, and postings on the camp bulletin board for restrictions; firewood is available from campground hosts, at the visitor center, and in Pilar, Taos, or Questa.  Alcohol: At campsites only  Other: Quiet hours 10 p.m..8 a.m.; 14-day stay limit
