Tajique - Torreon Loop

Tajique - Torreon Loop Professional Review and Guide

"Located on the eastern slope of the Manzano Mountains through the towns of Tajique and Torreon; about 50 miles southeast of Albuquerque. Save this ride for a gorgeous autumn day when you want to get out for a spin and enjoy the countryside. This area is known for its impressive stands of Bigtooth maples which blaze deep red every fall-the highlight of the foliage display.

As you ride up Tajique Canyon, enjoy the views of the Manzanos to the west. For much of the ride you will travel through a dense forest of oak, aspen, and ponderosa pine. Fall colors appear about the same time as the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta-the first two weeks in October. Tajique and Torreon are small Spanish villages with several historic churches and a few artisans. A visit during the apple harvest is a plus."
