Caves Gila National Forest

Caves (Gila National Forest) Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This is a short hike to an unusually dense concentration of rock formations, caves, and deep alcoves. Some are virtually inaccessible.

Some of the alcoves may have been used during prehistoric times, so it’s important that they not be disturbed. Finding the trail to the caves may seem like a challenge, especially if someone has taken the campsite at the lower end of the campground, which is where the route starts. The trailhead is marked by a sign. The pathway is just beyond the western edge of the campground."
