Santa Fe Rail Trail

Santa Fe Rail Trail Professional Review and Guide

"The wonderful Santa Fe Rail Trail travels along the historic Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. The portion of the rail trail that is managed by the county and described here begins just south of the city and quickly takes riders into the beautiful rolling hills of the desert.

The 17-mile-long Santa Fe Rail Trail follows the old Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. The trail actually begins in Santa Fe Railyard Park and then continues along the tracks to US 285 through the small communities of El Dorado and Lamy. The trail features urban, suburban, and rural characteristics as it leaves Santa Fe and runs along hilly, red-dirt terrain through a country-side of yucca and green junipers."
