Arroyo Hondo Open Space

Arroyo Hondo Open Space Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Arroyo Hondo Open Space consists of 87 acres and is located only about 7.5 miles from Santa Fe Plaza. There are two trailheads and a myriad of trails, all providing excellent views of the Ortiz Mountains, Cerrillos Hills, and Galisteo Basin; from the highest parts of the trail it is possible to see Mount Taylor, more than 100 miles away. The ruins of ancient Arroyo Hondo Pueblo are visible from several points on the trail. Sunset is a favorite time.

Note there are exposed areas with little or no shade. Take plenty of water on hot, sunny days, and be mindful of threatening storms during summer monsoons."
