Red Canyon

Red Canyon Professional Review and Guide

"A day hike through thick forest to the wilderness crest of the Manzano Mountains. The Manzano Mountains are an unassuming range with hidden surprises. This hike provides great views, lush forest, and even two small seasonal waterfalls. The upper Red Canyon Campground at the trailhead lies in dense forest and is a pleasant place to camp either before or after your hike. At the time of my last visit, potable water was not available. However, a spring by the creek in the upper campground can sometimes be used, along with purification."
