"A 33-mile drive over the heavily forested backbone of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The drive climbs over the Sangre de Cristo Mountains through lush forest, before dropping down into the pastoral Mora Valley. Much of the route follows a rushing mountain stream.

Special attractions: Pecos Wilderness, Carson National Forest, Salman Ranch, Cleveland Mill, Sipapu Ski Area, camping, hiking, fishing, and fall color.
