Sacramento Rim

Sacramento Rim Professional Review and Guide

"A 2- or 3-day backpack following the high, forested, western rim of the Sacramento Mountains.

The trail has some ups and downs as it crosses drainages, but in general it is a very easy, but long, trail. No good water sources exist along the route, but water caches can be easily set up in advance because of the trail’s multiple access points. The trail generally parallels the highway to Sunspot, but usually lies a considerable distance to the west. Unfortunately motorcycles are permitted on the Rim Trail; weekends, especially in summer, are the most likely times for such activity. The roads crossed by the trail will change over time because of the opening and closing of logging roads."
