Rain Creek

Rain Creek Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"There is year-round vehicular access to this lower-elevation trailhead, making it a good choice for a short hike during the shoulder seasons. The canyon overlook presents a grand view of volcanic cliffs and formations. The trailhead sign points northeast to the Rain Creek Trail and toward its junction with the West Fork Mogollon Creek Trail, which has been obliterated by fire.

Luckily the Rain Creek Trail was spared. The middle to upper reaches of Rain Creek encompass one of the most wild, rugged, and scenic canyons in all of the Gila Wilderness. The moderately used Rain Creek Trail begins in a pinyon-juniper woodland adjacent to a grassy hillside that was once used as an airstrip."
