This trail loops past three volcanoes on the west side of the city, known locally as the Albuquerque Volcanoes or the Three Sisters. The area offers excellent views of the city and the Sandia Mountains to the east, as well as a close-up view of lava flows, cinder cones, and other volcanic features. From the trailhead, start off on the right-hand trail, heading southeast toward JA Volcano, the southernmost of the three volcanoes. The trail loops around the east side of JA and Black Volcanoes, and then heads north to Vulcan Volcano. After looping around Vulcan Volcano, the return trail heads southwest to the trailhead.0 Kilometer 0.25.
