Petroglyph National Monument: Rinconada Canyon Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Located in northwest Albuquerque, Petroglyph National Monument o?ers its visitors several hiking opportunities. The Rinconada Canyon Trail is a pet-friendly trail that is a regular hiking destination for Albuquerque residents. The 2.2-mile-long trail o?ers classic desert hiking with wildlife and petroglyph viewing.

Not to be confused with a pictograph, which is a painting, a
Ppetroglyph is a carving. The site contains petroglyphs that were carved into volcanic rocks as many as 700 years ago by Native Americans and early Spanish settlers. It should be known that petroglyphs are much more than “rock art.” The
petroglyphs found in the monument and throughout New Mexico still have deep meaning."
