This trail climbs the western slopes of the Sandia Mountains to beautiful meadows on the Sandia Crest just south of South Sandia Peak. Although a longer climb than the east side trails that go to the beautiful South Sandia Peak area, the rugged canyons and rock formations of the western Sandia escarpment are worth the effort.

This is a MUST DO trail for anyone who lives in Albuquerque. The opening climb from high desert to alternative micro-climates mimics some of the conditions as La Luz, with it being a lot less complicated. Pack a lunch and realize how easy it is to make the city disappear.
