Indian Hollow

Indian Hollow Professional Review and Guide

"The granite crags of the Organ Mountains are one of the most spectacular features of southern New Mexico. The east face of the range jumps abruptly from the desert floor near Las Cruces, and the ragged towers of vertically jointed granite are said to resemble the tubes of a pipe organ.

Much of the Organs are under the jurisdiction of the White Sands Missile Range and are off-limits to visitors. The best access to the range is at the Aguirre Springs Recreation Area, and the primitive route into Indian Hollow is the most interesting hike. Indian Hollow, although near the developed campground, is rugged country with confusing terrain. Few visitors make the trek into the canyon."
