Rio Chama, Lower Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The tailwaters of the Chama are different in nature from the upper Rio Chama. Running through sandstone canyons and at considerably lower elevation than the upper Chama, they’ll fish fairly well in winter if the weather is mild.

Flow is a big factor here: You’ll want flows under 300 cubic feet per second—preferably half that. Types of Fish: Rainbow and brown trout, 10"–20"+. This eTrail covers the "where, when, and how" to fish in this region. You'll get a full-page map and information on the known hatches, suggested equipment to bring, and the best flies to use."
