Mercer County Park Professional Review and Guide
"This county park offers waterfowl, wading birds, raptors, and turtles. Mercer County Park is a huge complex of more than 2,500 acres located midway between Princeton and Trenton. The park’s miles of rolling hills sprinkled with trees and recreational areas literally have something for everyone, including golf, soccer, tennis, and, of course, boating. Set in the midst of the park is the 275-acre Lake Mercer with a marina, food and boat rental concessions, launch facilities, small nature center, and restrooms. To the right of the concrete boat ramp is a specially designated sand beach launch for canoes and kayaks. Being the major recreational facility for the densely populated Trenton area, it can become a veritable zoo on summer weekends, particularly after school lets out in mid-June. When I was at the park ranger office one summer Sunday, a man came in wanting to reserve a large picnic pavilion for the following week for 100 to 120 people. The park ranger didn’t bat an eyelash at the number; they’re used to large groups like that."
