Tillman Ravine Trail Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Tillman Ravine is an easy hike through tall evergreens that evoke Hansel and Gretel’s wooded path. Bowser will enjoy the forest’s primeval quality. Here, the Tillman Brook slices through the northwestern slope of Kittatinny Mountain, creating a dramatic gorge with a racing stream, waterfalls, and eddies—places for you and your dog to chill on a hot day.
Masses of rhododendron bloom in early summer. Tillman Ravine is a 525-acre, state-designated Natural Area because of its geological significance and mature hemlock-mixed hardwood forest. A maze of short trails rambles through this part of the ravine, but you can’t get lost in this area bounded by the brook and roads. Bowser will enjoy the variety of terrain as the trail rises and falls in short bursts, crosses the stream on wooden bridges, steps over uplifted rock, and climbs stone stairs carved from bedrock and others formed by oak and hemlock roots."
