Surf And Stream Campground Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"From the outside, Surf & Stream Campground looks like another in a long line of generic RV parks that are located near the shore. Dozens of trailers are packed into a large loop that circles a busy recreation area. Look a little closer, though, and you’ll start to notice a bit more character. Many of Surf & Stream’s clients are longtime repeat seasonal customers—not what you’d expect from a campground located close to some of the region’s top attractions. But the most unexpected perk of Surf & Stream is not its quirky cast of characters or its amenities: it’s a small, wooded island devoted solely to walk-in tent camping.
Tenters must park their cars nearby and carry their gear across a narrow wooden footbridge. There are no specific sites, but rather a number of clearings on the island. Campers can pick an open area to be near other campers or make their way to a private area on the island’s tip. Plenty of picnic tables and grills are available, so drag them over to your space in the woods and designate it as a site for the night."
