Cattus Island Trail

Cattus Island Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This little hike, packed with interesting sights, offers human and dog a quick, easy walk into bayside habitats—upland forest, swamp, salt marsh, open woods, and a sandy beach. Wide paths help keep your dog out of tick habitat.

The hike is open and sunny with a cheerful dose of nature, especially in winter. Cooper Environmental Center has freshwater spigots and wildlife exhibits. Salt marshes comprise more than 70 percent of Cattus Island—an important fact since more than 75 percent of the salt marshes in Barnegat Bay has been developed."
