Pyramid Mountain Loop Trail

Pyramid Mountain Loop Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This hike takes Fido on rocky uphills, downhill rock scrambles, stream crossings, and some of the most impressive glacial boulders in the state. Make sure your dog has tough pads to handle the steep rock scrambles and is in shape to handle the uphills. Humans should wear boots with good ankle support. Bring plenty of water.

The Blue Trail leads out from the parking lot in two places. Take either path and cross Stony Brook, a rushing stream in spring and a trickle in summer. Turn right onto the Yellow Trail at its start and head steadily uphill. The path is rocky all the way and can be a heart-pumper even for an in-shape canine. After a climb to the ridge top, the Blue Trail comes in from the left and joins the Yellow for a short distance until you take it to the right, leaving the Yellow Trail on the left."

Hiked the main segment to Tripod Rock, Bear Rock and Whale Head Rock - all amazing glacier rock formations. Yet there are so many other interesting outcrops - and the overlooks are spectacular. You can take a Blue trail to Tripod (moderate) but to get to Bear rock - a steep long descent... be prepared. I did a 3 mile trail in the summer and a 5.5 mile on the 25th. you can see the paths I took in the flickr photo link below.

Our family hiked all the way to the top. Our 5 & 3 had a great time, my 3 year old hiked all the way down on my shoulders : )
