Wharton State Forest: Lower Forge and Mullica River Campgrounds Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Lower Forge and Mullica River Campgrounds are inaccessible by design: motor vehicles of all sorts are prohibited. So bring your horse, your mountain bike, your canoe, or just your own two feet if you want to camp in one of these wilderness sites. Lower Forge has no drinking water, which makes it the less desirable of the two sites to those who don’t like to carry their own supply.
On the upside, campers here are guaranteed a primitive experience with no likelihood of intrusion by neighbors unwilling to rough it. Distances take on a new meaning when petrol power has no relevance. Lower Forge Campground is a half-mile hike from the nearest road, but the easiest way to get here is to come by canoe, carrying your gear in a waterproof bag."
