Shadow Lake Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Enjoy great fishing and look for plenty of waterfowl and wading birds in this freshwater lake. This is a wonderful place for an easy paddle after work or freshwater fishing trip. At the launch, it looks like it’s only a small creek. Paddle left (east) from the launch through a narrow passage about 150 feet long. At the end of the passage, the water divides around a small island. Pass on either side of the island to enter the large part of the lake. Up until about midsummer, there’s a nice shallow cove on your right (west) to view waterfowl and wading birds. By midsummer that cove fills in with duckweed and pond lilies, but there’s still plentiful waterfowl to view there, include numerous swans. A word of warning: During breeding and brooding season, swans can be very territorial, so give them a wide berth if you see a family on the water."
