Pompton Lake Professional Review and Guide
"Abundant waterfowl, a couple of islands, and lush mountain backdrops offer you a pleasant paddling experience. The majority of lakeside property on Pompton Lake is privately owned, but most of the houses are on large properties set back from the shoreline and screened by trees, providing pleasant paddling conditions. Small parks and uninhabited shorelines break up the residential shoreline nicely. Ramapo Mountains to the north and east offer a magnificent green backdrop around the lake and town. In addition to conifers and hardwoods lining the shores, scattered willows drape long, delicate branches that shimmer and rustle with the slightest breeze. A few islands, lots of coves, a few bridges to paddle under, and some narrow passageways provide interest throughout the paddle. Abundant ducks, geese, and swans forage among vegetation in shallow waters while egrets and herons search for food along the shores."
