Mills Reservation Trail Professional Review and Guide
"Mythology tells of giants, demons, and dragons lurking deep in the heart of the woods. However, people have also found safety, food, and shelter in the forest. The same holds true today, thanks to a donation of 119 acres of woodland by the Davella Mills Foundation in 1954, and later additions that brought the total to 157 acres, hikers can enjoy peace and quiet on these trails despite the fact that the reservation is located between the crowded suburbs of Cedar Grove and Upper Montclair.
The high point of the hike is an overlook affording an excellent view of Manhattan, Staten Island, and Newark. During migration in spring and fall, chances are good that you’ll spot several of the fourteen species of birds as they glide on the wind currents."
