Round Valley Loop Trail Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"This trail offers human and dog a very accessible and easy walk along the edge of a reservoir and a pretty hike through a pine plantation on a wide grassy path. The 4003-acre Round Valley Reservoir sits in the bowl of Cushetunk Mountain, formed by underground volcanic magma.
At 180 feet deep, it can hold 55 billion gallons of water. The trails are pleasantly popular, even in winter, with other human and canine hikers and a few fishermen, but it is best to avoid the crowds from Memorial Day through Labor Day. With autumn’s changing leaves and cooler days through the awakening of spring peepers, a peaceful walk can be yours and your dog’s. This is a “no-excuses” central New Jersey hike."
