Round Valley Recreation Area Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Enjoy eagles, ospreys, vast open waters, and wilderness campsites accessible only by foot or boat at the state’s largest reservoir. At 2,350 acres, Round Valley Reservoir is the state’s largest reservoir and its second largest body of freshwater, surpassed only by Lake Hopatcong. It opened in 1972 as a backup to nearby Spruce Run. The launch is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Stay 200 feet away from the dam towers and 100 feet away from the dams themselves. Impressive to look at, the reservoir is a little more than 2.5 miles long and 1.5 miles wide—that’s a lot of water to paddle."
