Mahlon Dickerson Reservation Campground Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Mahlon Dickerson Reservation, best known for its multiuse trails, recreational facilities, and undeveloped wilderness areas, has the only public campground in Morris County. Surprisingly few people are aware of this rustic jewel of a campground, tucked away just north of Lake Hopatcong between two wildlife management areas in the northwestern corner of the county.
The eight tent sites are located on a dead-end singletrack road—a spur that juts out from a loop dedicated to four shelters ($16 a night) and a campfire ring. Two portable toilets and a dumpster are the only luxuries on offer, but a modern restroom with flush toilets and hot showers is a short drive away at the RV area, where there are 18 sites. (Restrooms are heated in the winter.) All of the RV sites offer 30- and 50-amp electrical hookups as well as water hookups in warmer months."
