Wharton State Forest: Hawkin Bridge Campground Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"The most remote of the Wharton State Forest camping areas that are accessible by car, the Hawkin Bridge Campground is about 2 miles west and north of Godfrey Bridge Campground. Once you pass Godfrey Bridge, the road gets a little rougher; then, after the right turn onto Hawkin Bridge Road, the final mile and a half descends a loose, sandy road.
A high-clearance vehicle is a must for this section of road, and four-wheeldrive isn’t a bad idea, especially if the terrain is wet. Use extra caution after heavy rains. This is a campground where you definitely won’t have cars zooming by your sites in the middle of the night."
