Wharton State Forest Bodine Field Campground

Wharton State Forest: Bodine Field Campground Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Wharton State Forest’s easternmost camping area is also its largest. Bodine Field Campground, officially capable of holding up to 250 people, is ideal for large groups. Wharton staff also recommends it for use by equestrian groups. The sandy ground is level and wide open. The area is sunny, with only some shade. Sites are roughly designated in this wilderness camping by signs that identify parking spaces and by fire rings left by past campers.

When no large groups are present, Bodine Field is great for family or small-group camping. It’s a sunny, inexpensive riverside area with good access by both unimproved-road and canoe routes. Be cautious when bringing in your car, as the sandy roads can get swampy after a rain, and a few large bumps may remain after the roads dry out. High-clearance vehicles should have no problem."
