Pondicherry Trail

Pondicherry Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This hike takes you through the heart of Crawford Notch State Park, between two ultra-steep and rugged mountains, where in 1826 nine people died in an avalanche under somewhat mysterious circumstances.

First view an old stone railroad stop, visit Ripley Falls, and then take the Appalachian Trail (AT) up Mount Willey. Next descend past huge views, experiencing firsthand the sharp, avalanche-prone slopes. Drop to the Willey House site and then turn down the Saco River to experience aquatic beauty and montane vistas."
