Mount Kearsage North

Mount Kearsage North Professional Review and Guide

"Also known as Mount Pequawket this other pretender to the Kearsarge name rises instead near the border of Maine within sight of North Conway.

The subject of a friendly rivalry over which summit rightfully claims a distinguished naval ship as its famous namesake, Kearsarge North has nevertheless become noteworthy on its own as a comfortably challenging family hike that ends with superb views from the last remaining fire lookout in the White Mountain National Forest."

Steep hike. Incredible 360 degree views from the top. The fire tower was just repainted and is in great condition. Could stay there overnight in case of emergency in the winter. There are no definite water sources, but a few trickles of water along the trail when I went in the Fall. There is a privy at the top of the mountain, but is not regularly maintained. Great, sweaty day hike. The view from the top really is worth it. You can see Black Cap Mountain to White Ledges to Mount Washington and the rest of the Presidentials. Enjoy!
Great hike! Last one up at sunset. Summit is exposed so if you do it in the fall bring the right gear.
