Pemigewasset Wilderness-Western Loop

Pemigewasset Wilderness-Western Loop Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The Pemigewasset Wilderness protects the watershed of the East
Branch of the Pemigewasset River. Ringed by lofty peaks, including sixteen taller than 4,000 feet, it is New England’s largest Wilderness Area, with 45,000 acres of protected backcountry.

In many ways, it is also one of the friendliest. Many trails follow old railroad beds—wide, easy-cruising pathways—deep into the backcountry. The well-traveled and rugged Appalachian Trail (AT) runs along the mountain spine."
