Pemigewasset Wilderness Trail

Pemigewasset Wilderness Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"With many roads dissecting the White Mountains, there are few areas where one can go and feel a strong sense of isolation. The heart of the 45,000-acre Pemigewasset Wilderness, the state’s largest wilderness area, is one such place. The Pemigewasset is a region of roaring rivers, cascading falls, rugged landscapes, and scenic mountaintops.

This loop offers the adventurer an opportunity to scale five New Hampshire 4000-foot mountains, traverse breathtaking scenery, and pass through forests teeming with wildlife. While more than 25 miles in length, much of the loop follows easy to moderate terrain. With a number of developed overnight destinations, this route provides an ideal opportunity for two- to three-day adventures."

Tough hike, but very rewarding. Completing the loop clockwise will leave the best views for the second day of hiking.
