Hancock Campground Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"If you start traveling along New Hampshire’s fabled Kancamagus Highway heading east or from the Lincoln side to the Conway side, Hancock Campground is the first of the six Kancamagus campgrounds you’ll encounter.

It’s the only campground along the Kancamagus—or “The Kanc,” as the locals call it—that’s open year-round. If you come to The Kanc for cross-country skiing or snowshoeing, or if you come to ski at nearby Loon Mountain and you want to do it on the cheap and with a dash of added adventure, pitching your tent at Hancock is the way to go."

The main reason my wife and I stayed here is they are dog friendly. Everyone with a dog had them in control, no out of control barking. It's a beautiful campground with spacious/private sites. The weekend we were there, the campground was mostly empty. The write up says look for a site in the "tent loop" but after we found a site there and walked around, we found it was the most crowded area. We might have done better driving the whole campground 1st. Bathrooms were clean (flush toilets) but not lit at night, not a big deal. It's a long trip to a store (12 miles or so) but that was the charm for us. Very close to lots of hiking and biking for all levels. Will stay there again for sure. Loved it all.
