Avoid Lincoln Brook Trail north of Owls Head Mountain trail. It is not marked and the trail disappears into marsh on several occasions. We had to bushwhack for several miles guided by compass. South of Owls head mountain Lincoln Brook is pretty nice. The Franconia Brook trail was nice, and easy. We definitely wished we had more time to play in the falls and pools along the way. Franconia Brook campsite was nice. Thirteen Falls campsite was awesome! 3 stars for now. If Lincoln Brook trail is better marked and maintained it would probably have been a 4-5 star backpacking trip for us.

Great backpacking route. Long but mostly easy. Lots of river crossings, these can be challenging for people not used to carrying a pack. Great waterfalls to play in, make sure to bring your swimsuit.
