Dolly Copp Campground

Dolly Copp Campground Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"You can escape some of the crowds who may not head any farther north than the outlets by heading farther north yourself, to Dolly Copp Campground. The campground is just north of Mount Washington and right off NH 16. Don’t make the mistake of pulling in to the Dolly Copp picnic area—the campground is another mile up the road.

Dolly Copp is a good-sized campground, and it’s not packed with sites. Instead, 173 sites are distributed in nine separate areas, between which there is plenty of room. You won’t find any tent-specific areas within Dolly Copp, but there are a few areas where trailers aren’t allowed."

I have camped here 2 times and am going back for a third. I have only stayed in the group section of the grounds, but I have walked through the campground and the size is amazing. Spacious / secluded campsites, a little pricy for primitive camping $20-$25 a night, most sites are 1st come 1st serve. We went Memorial day weekend and the campground was SOLD OUT, so we had to share a group site with 2 other parties. We are now best friends with them and do most of our hiking and camping together! This campground is right on rt.16 minuets from Mt Washington, and would be a nice base for multiple hikes, both day hikes and backpacking trips. Lots of Moose in the area (Bears too)... Closed Oct - April, the group sites are open year round (camp at your own risk...) 5 STARS for this great campground!!!

A great campground. I've been here 4 times over the past 3 years and can say that on each occasion; the toilets were clean, the campsites and common areas were well cared for and the staff was friendly and helpful. It's nicely laid out with open areas and many wooded spaces. A swift river runs along side it too.
