Paradise Point Trail Professional Review and Guide

"The bear may have gone over the mountain, but your four-year-old refuses to do so. Save the high peaks for future years and plan a visit to lovely Paradise Point with its tame, well-marked trails perfectly suited to preschoolers. This 43-acre Audubon-managed natural area supports a nature center with a host of hands-on and live exhibits, as well as a resource library and nature store. Lovely trails wind through marsh areas and forests and follow the rugged shoreline to The Point, where you’ll enjoy spectacular views of Newfound Lake. Urge grandparents to guide the little ones on this hike.

From the parking lot, walk southeastward down the gravel road, arriving at the Audubon Paradise Point Nature Center. Here, you can pick up a map or chat with one of the naturalists. From the building, head eastward on a path that leads to the dock area on Newfound Lake. A child-size peninsula reaches into the water to the left of the docks. As kids peer into the water from this promontory, adults will take in the larger picture, looking out over the clear waters of the Newfound Lake inlet."
