Hedgehog Mountain Professional Review and Guide
"This is a pleasant family hike on a modest mountain with multiple views from various ledges. Hedgehog Mountain is a minor peak in White Mountain National Forest just north of Mounts Whiteface and Passaconaway and just outside the boundary of the Sandwich Range Wilderness. It’s a wonderful hike with many ledges and rock outcroppings from which to take in a view. If you don’t have the time or the stamina to commit to one of the 4,000-footers, Hedgehog Mountain is the perfect alternative.Begin at the trailhead at the end of the large hiker parking lot across from the Passaconaway Campground. About 50 yards from the trailhead, you come to a junction with the Downes Brook Trail. Turn left (south) on the UNH Trail (blue diamond markers). The path is on an old railroad bed, wide and flat through the tall pines."
