Maintained by New Hampshire Fish and game, this small, shallow marsh offers a great opportunity to study ducks, geese, and other marsh animals and plants. you may also find beaver and a bald eagle here. This small, scenic pond, nestled among the hills just to the south of Concord, provides an outstanding place to paddle. Numerous marshy coves and islands await exploration, as does the Great Meadows marsh, which expands out to the north. Conifers dominate the wooded shoreline, with occasional red oak, white birch, and other deciduous trees. We portaged up into Great Meadows over a beaver dam and enjoyed the solitude, listening to ravens calling their hoarse cries off in the woods as a sharp-shinned hawk alternately flapped and glided overhead.
