Pillsbury State Park, Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway

Pillsbury State Park, Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway Professional Review and Guide

"The Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway links Mount Monadnock and Mount Sunapee on a rolling, north/south ridgeline route that covers almost 50 miles of south-central New Hampshire. I came to Pillsbury State Park knowing that its trails connect to the greenway, providing a rare opportunity to backpack in southern New Hampshire. What I found was a gorgeous, virtually undiscovered park, teeming with wildlife and very few people.

Moose, beavers, turtles, and loons make their home around the beautiful lakes and small ponds that lie below the shallow greenway ridge. Campers, canoeists, and day hikers couldn’t ask for a more marvelous backcountry setting. Special attractions: Glimmering lakes and ponds, forests filled with wildlife, views from Lucia's Lookout, and a rare chance to backpack in southern New Hampshire."

Very nice hike...we saw more moose tracks that people tracks on a georgous memorial day weekend. The only downfall was the muddy/swampy part of the trails that covered roughy 30% of the loop. Great lookout between the Five Summers and Bear Pond Trail.
